Week 2-The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!

Hey Y'all! LOL! I know you want to hear all the good stuff first but I am going to start with the ugly. So here we go:

The Ugly- Trying on pants that are supposed to be my size and they aren't fitting correctly anymore...eating a hoagie and a Hershey white chocolate milk shake...not getting into any type of exercise routine at all for the week!
The Bad-Getting Fed-Up and wanting to quit because I wasn't seeing results...I stopped counting calories because I got a good grasp on how many calories my body was taking in...did two days of strength training exercising and gave up!
The Good-(Finally the Silver Lining) I get on the scale praying I at least lost the 4 lbs I wanted to lose by this point and I find out I have lost 9lbs!

I'm so hype that I not only loss the weight I wanted to lose but also an additional 5 lbs! Who knew that I needed to treat myself here and there to really stay on a good weight loss plan. Let's be real with ourselves and realize that we can not ignore the wonderful smells of a meal that used to be your favorite only because you will end up craving it even more. Another thing I learned during this week is just because I work at a restaurant and get free food doesn't mean I have to eat it all the time and I have to choose the better items on the menu instead of the Burgers or Chicken Fingers with French Fries. The next few weeks are really gonna be hard because it is a few people's birthdays so I will be out where there will be alcohol and a lot of fatty foods. Hopefully, I have learned enough about my will power in these last few weeks that I can handle these parties and not sacrifice the hard work that I have been doing. My goal for the next few weeks, get into exercising more than just twice a week! TEAM MILLAH 90 here we come! (81 lbs. to go!)

Week 1

Week one was full of...tweaks, trails, and tribulations! First, because I was starting a new plan, I had to change a few things and realize that I was not in the shape I thought I was in (I definitely have a problem with thinking I am smaller then I actually am, LOL).  I had to change my initial calorie count up to 1727 a day to lose the two pounds a week (that is with exercise) from 1500. Which was doable, 200 extra calories then I was giving myself in the first place! O YEAH! Then, I tried the cardio exercises...EPIC FAIL! I lasted about 10 minutes for two days and then gave up...SMH! Then was the strength training...First day, GREAT...Second day, SLACKED...Third Day, None! So lets say it all went a lil down hill by Wednesday...But we haven't even gotten close to Friday. Friday, I went the rest of the way down the hill and finished it off with Chicken Quesadillas on Sunday Night! SMH! I've learned through this first week that I have None to Minimal willpower which has to change because I am not giving up until my body is 90 lbs lighter! Today is a new day and, so far, I have stuck to my diet and calorie counts and I am about to do my resistance band exercise! So take that WEEK ONE cause you are gone and Week Two will be better cause now I have learned what I need to change about myself and where my weaknesses are when it comes to dieting and exercising. TEAM MILLAH 90! LOL

The Beginning to an End

For the past year (all of 2010) I was in denial about my weight. Clothes stop fitting, belly got bigger, more cellulite appeared in places where there was once no cellulite but I continuing eating like a Viking and ignoring what had happened right in front of me. One time this past year, I went to the doctors and i had gained 30plus lbs in 3 months. Still, Denial didnt let me see it and guess what...I gained and additional 15 lbs after that and thats not even the weight i gained before the doctors noticed the gain. So now, Im 26 years old and 244 lbs...NOT AT ALL HAPPY AT THIS NUMBER!  My plan is to lose 90 lbs and 80 inches of change from my body in a year (By January 10th 2012). I plan to do this by Dieting and Exercise:

  •  Diet:
    • Foods to Avoid
      1. Alcohol
      2. Fried foods
      3. Red Meat
      4. Enriched Grains (white bread, white pasta, white rice, etc)
      5. Junk Food/Sugars
    • Foods to Enjoy
      1. Red Wine- Only two glasses a week (at the most)
      2. Lean Cuts of Meat (For all meat must be a loin, example-tenderloin, sirloin)
      3. Whole Grains (wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, etc)
      4. Fruits
      5. Vegetables
The plan for my diet is to increase the amount of water i drink to 8-10 glasses a day and eating six small meals a day (less then 1500 calories a day). When it comes to exercise, I plan on doing cardio (30 mins a day) and strength training for 5 times a week as a start.

In all honesty, I feel uncomfortable at this weight. I have men tell me all the time how "sexy" I am but I dont feel "sexy". I felt sexier when I was skinnier (my favorite weight is 188 and size12/14). Not saying that they aren't beautiful woman in my weight range or larger (Ex. Queen Latifah and Jill Scott just to name a few) but I believe that beauty is in your confidence and happiness when it comes to your appearance. If you are confident and happy in your appearance (especially as a voluptuous woman), more poser to you because you are where I wanna be when it comes to my self-esteem. That is my plan in my weight lose goal is to feel confident and happy in my appearance which is something i havent felt in a while. Another reason why this weght goal is important to me is for health reasons. In my family, Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis are diseases that are passed down in my family (I have had two cousins pass away in the past few years from complications of their diabetes, they were both under 35). If I stay at this weight, my risk of getting these diseases (along with a host of other health problems) are very high. I have seen the struggles with having these diseases because my mother has them both and I have had to take care of her because of these struggles. I know that she would want better for my health then for me to have these diseases so if losing this weight will help lower my risks, I'm down for it!

This blog will show you my struggles and successes with my weight loss. The plan is to lose 90 lbs and 80 inches off of my body within a year.  My goal is to lose 2 lbs and 2 inches off of my body a week. Please help me with encouragement and comments for my weight loss.
